Non-resident angling licence - discussion document

Consultation closed: 28 October 2011.

This discussion document has been prepared jointly by the Department of Conservation and the New Zealand Fish and Game Council and sets out a possible option to establish a non-resident (i.e. not a New Zealand resident) sports fishing licence.

A higher licence fee for non-resident anglers is proposed on the basis that dedicated international anglers tend to target more expensive to manage high-quality (often back-country) fisheries, and do not contribute to the long term management of the angling resource in the same way as resident anglers.
