Aoraki/Mt Cook National Park is located in the central part of the South Island, deep in the heart of the Southern Alps.

It is New Zealand's greatest alpine park with the highest mountains and the largest glaciers.

In a field trip to the park students can gain a deeper understanding of the proccesses that formed the natural landscape and how people have interacted with it over time. They will learn about the glaciated environment, climate and ecology and tourism in the park.
