Chatham Islands Conservation Board

The main role of the Chatham Island Conservation Board is to oversee the implementation of the Conservation Management Strategy as well as providing a community perspective to the Department of Conservation:

  • Focusing on local rather than national issues
  • Improving understanding of Tikanga Maori/Moriori
  • Advising the department on all issues relating to conservation management undertaken on main Chatham, Pitt Island and surrounding islets.
