Northland Conservation Board

Haere mai and welcome to the Northland Conservation Board Te Runanga Papa Atawhai O Te Taitokerau.

The functions of the Board is set out in section 6M of the Conservation Act and in the National Parks, Reserves and Walkways Acts. The Board's focus is on policy issues, strategic direction and planning, not day-today operation details of the Department of Conservation's work.

A major responsibility of the Board is overseeing the implementation of Northland's Conservation Management Strategy (CMS). The CMS implements general policies and establishes objectives for the integrated management of natural and historic resources, including any species managed by the Department, and for recreation, tourism and other conservation purposes.
