Fish & Game licence
Licences for hunting gamebirds are issued from Fish & Game NZ.

You can purchase a gamebird licence online on the Fish & Game NZ website.
You will receive a copy of the Gamebird Hunting Guide with your licence. This provides you with information about the hunting seasons and bag limits for each species, maps and much more. It is an essential companion to your hunting licence.
You also need a separate gamebird hunting permit
In addition to the gamebird licence you need a separate gamebird hunting permit.
These permits are for specific areas and periods and are issued only though the DOC area office closest to the hunting area.
Canada goose
A small game hunting permit is required from DOC to hunt Canada goose or feral goose.
