Places to stay

A wide variety of accommodation is available in the towns surrounding the park.

Within the park there are a number of backcountry huts linked by an excellent track system.

Two tourist lodges offer accommodation inside the park at:

  • Dawson Falls Mountain Lodge
  • Mountain House Motor Lodge

Accommodation is also available at the the historic Camphouse North Egmont as well as the historic Rahiri Cottage at the entrance to the park on Egmont Road, Inglewood. Both these facilities are operated privately and information and bookings can be made at www.mttaranaki.co.nz.

There are also three club lodges on the mountain that can be used by making prior arrangements with the clubs.
