Subantarctic islands - no tracks & walks

There are no public tracks and walks on the ecologically fragile subantarctic islands. You need a permit to visit the islands and you must be accompanied by a government representative.

Isolated, windswept, beautiful and delicate, New Zealand's subantarctic islands are unique and irreplaceable.

Described by the United Nations Environment Program as "the most diverse and extensive of all subantarctic archipelagos", the islands all have World Heritage status.
