Conservation volunteer projects on the Coromandel Peninsula.

Summary

There is a comprehensive programme of volunteer projects on the Coromandel Peninsula from July 2011 - June 2012.

They include working bees at DOC's conservation campsites at the northern tip of the Peninsula, track maintenance at Whenuakite and the Kauaeranga Valley, dune protection at Otama and Hot Water Beach and opportunities to become part of the Dotterel Watch Programme.

These projects are practical and offer you the chance to learn new skills as well as meet others, do useful conservation work and enjoy the outdoors.

This booklet describes the volunteer goals, how to apply for projects, acceptance, cancellation, and what to expect and bring.

All projects are subsidised by the Department of Conservation.

The projects are:

  7. Muriwai Walk site restoration, Port Jackson
  8. Cathedral Cove amenity area beautification, Hahei
  9. Whitianga Rock Historic Reserve enhancement, Whitianga
  10. Opito Bay Historic Reserve enhancement

  12. Hot Water Beach dune protection
