The Lake Waikaremoana Great Walk is a 46 km 3-4 day tramping track in Te Urewera National Park which follows the shore of the lake for most of its length.
This brochure contains several interesting walks highlighting sparkling lakes, dramatic bluffs, magnificent forest and profuse birdlife.
Rugged, remote, immense, Te Urewera contains the largest forested wilderness remaining in the North Island. It is a popular area for walking, hunting, fishing and camping.
Located south of Opotiki, the Waioeka and Urutawa areas offer a wide range of walks, historic sites and hunting and fishing spots.
